Discover the Charm of Old Florida

Long ago Pirates roamed its sandy shores.  Later, excellent sport fishing, mild climate and natural beauty attracted and delighted distinguished visitors.  Winter residences established by renowned early inhabitants continue to add romance to Boca Grande and the Placida corridor; however, they compromise only a small part of what this “Old Florida” destination represents.

Boca Grande and the Placida area maintain a small town community charm which has appealed to people from all walks of life.  Exceptional restaurants, interesting and diverse shops, art galleries, four marinas and a seasoned group of fishing guides compliment our small business community.  Our outdoor activities are plenty including; terrific inshore and offshore fishing, close boating proximity to charming locations such as Cabbage Key and Usseppa and access to numerous first class golf courses.

Diligent conservation groups maintain the environmental integrity of our community from the blue-green Gulf of Mexico to pristine Charlotte Harbor. No high rises or traffic lights exist and our population is diverse but joined by the common thread of love of privacy and serenity.

Marine Excursions

Surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico and Charlotte Harbor Boca Grande affords immediate access to some of the best cruising and fishing waters in the Country. If cruising is your passion you will enjoy day trip proximity to Tampa, the Florida Keys and Naples.  In just minutes you can visit quaint locations like Cabbage Key where you can enjoy a cheeseburger in paradise.

History

The village of Boca Grande and our historic cottage colony are surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico, Charlotte Harbor and serene waterways.  Early residents and guests traveled to Boca Grande by rail car along scenic Charlotte harbor south to the historic Boca Grande Lighthouse.  This route has been maintained and now functions as a wonderful pedestrian experience.  Here you can travel the length of our Island by foot, bicycle or golf cart while enjoying our excellent climate and native wildlife.  If you require exercise runners will enjoy a custom track adjacent to the main path.
